Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on reports of ballots marked in favor of the Moldovan opposition bloc, which is traditionally viewed as pro-Russian. TASS reported this information.
Earlier, the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs released video footage of ballots marked with marks in support of opposition forces.
I believe that paw prints of the bears that dropped them off were also found nearby, Zakharova commented ironically on the situation.
Parliamentary elections in Moldova are scheduled for October 28, 2025. President Maia Sandu accuses the Russian Federation of attempting to influence the electoral process. She claims Moscow has stepped up its interference, recruiting voters from the diaspora and using Russian Orthodox Church clergy to spread disinformation. Sandu also claims Russia is complicit in fomenting unrest in prisons involving arrested pro-Russian political figures.
The Moldovan president also claims that Russia is allegedly seeking to use Moldovan territory as an operational base for an invasion of Odessa.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Moldovan Ambassador Lilian Darii and protested Chisinau's refusal to register Russian election observers, which Moscow believes violates international law and calls into question the legitimacy of the voting results.
